Wesley Sanders (Finance and Marketing Director)
Based in Hampstead as Finance and Marketing Director, Wesley is responsible for maintaining top standards of tuition across all subjects and at all ages, and in charge of the company’s marketing and financial efforts. With Nelson Lo, Wesley works personally with clients and tutors to ensure that Athena is making good matches, and that the quality of teaching remains excellent.
As well as managing Athena Tuition, Wesley tutors in economics and history, focusing on A-Level and degree level students. He has also tutored and taught in Suzhou, China, where he lived and worked for a year from 2011 to 2012. Wesley has travelled extensively across China and India, and he supports Nelson Lo with Athena’s international clients. Wesley graduated in Economics and Politics from Exeter University, and has also spent time working with technology firms such as BookingBug and HelloFresh.
Nelson Lo (Client Service Director)
As Client Services Director and also based in Hampstead, Nelson is the main point of liaison for many of Athena clients. With Wesley Sanders, Nelson matches our students with our tutors – all of whom we interview one-on-one, and all of whose teaching abilities we have tested in interview. In addition to his work with Athena’s UK-based clients, Nelson takes responsibility for the company’s international clients, who come mainly from China and Hong Kong, the United States, and continental Europe. Nelson oversees arrangements for clients seeking remote tuition via Skype, as well as for students moving to the UK – and into the UK education system – for the first time.
Nelson is also an 11+ tutor with Athena, and has broad knowledge of the UK’s independent schools. Nelson graduated from Exeter University with a Distinction in MSc Marketing, and has worked as a researcher and a marketer for several companies, including the Financial Times.
Toby Crooks (Client and Partnership Manager)
Toby devises and executes projects intended to expand Athena Tuition into novel areas of the Tutoring and Education industries. He works closely with
Nelson and Wesley, to this end, and assists in the daily management of the company; accommodating the needs of both clients and tutors.
Toby is a sparky Science tutor, running iGCSE Science classes and assisting academically ambitious students with their A-Levels and
Oxbridge Applications. Toby graduated from the University of Cambridge in 2018 with a 2i in Natural Sciences (Biological).
In his spare time, Toby is a keen guitarist, and has a diploma from the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance.
Evelyn Hou (Head of Asia Pacific)
Ms. Evelyn Hou holds a bachelors degree in Business Administration and Masters in Marketing at University of Portsmouth. She is experienced in teaching and is familiar with the needs of overseas students in the UK. Evelyn also has first-hand experience of discovering the potential of every student, and has successfully aided students in attaining a place at many of the UK’s top 50 independent schools and universities.
Steve Spriggs
Steve founded William Clarence Education, after working in the City of London for 5 years and then tutoring full-time Maths and Economics. William Clarence Education is the leading education consultant and advisory firm in London and proud partners of Athena Tuition.
He is dedicated to the company’s clients and providing the best educational support to help students meet their academic aspirations. Steve is a proud advocate of the British education system, and is committed to making it accessible to students across the world.
Working with the brightest and most talented teachers in the world, Steve takes great pride in ensuring all clients receive the professional service they deserve. He supports clients through a wide variety of academic decisions ranging from choosing appropriate preparatory and secondary schools, to homeschooling, to preparing for Oxbridge entrance exams and interviews.
Shing Cheng (Client Manager)
Shing Cheng holds an LLB (Hons) from BPP University Law School, graduating with 2i, and was awarded a Commendation in the Legal Practice Course (LPC)
He is an experienced client manager responsible for developing and identifying strategic partnerships with overseas companies. Aside from business development initiatives, he oversees a wide range of operational functions, including contract drafting, client relationship management, and financial administration, ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the company
