Pre-Tests are a form of aptitude test used by some schools as an initial screening stage to separate out those candidates who are in the academic standard ballpark required by the school from those who are not. Students who are successful at the pre-test stage will then go on to be invited to sit further admissions assessments, and possibly also an interview.
Some pre-tests, such as CAT4, can be scaled to a range of levels and so can be used to assess a range of ages.
