Can I have in-person geography tuition?

Yes, we can provide in-person tuition in London. At higher levels, though, where things become more specialist, there is a smaller pool of tutor options, so high-level lessons tend to be online.

Can I receive online geography tuition?

Yes, we can provide online tuition at a range of price points.

Can I request a trial session?

At Athena Tuition, we don’t request payment blocks/commitment to chunks of hours. Clients are free to cancel at any stage, whether it be after the first, fifth or 500th lesson; we just ask that 24 hrs’ notice is provided.

Ahead of any lessons, you will be able to have a free-of-charge call with the tutor. This is the opportunity to get a more nuanced feel for the tutor to see if they’d be the right fit. Feel free to ask questions, and the tutor will likely have questions, too. If all is in order, a first lesson can be scheduled during this call.

Rosemary

Rosemary is a full-time Geography tutor with over a decade of experience.

She specialises in 13+, GCSE, A-Level and IB tuition, having thousands of hours under her belt. One nice thing working with Rosemary, from our perspective, is how little we hear from the clients once the tuition arrangement is set up.

She is so proficient that the clients have no need to contact us!

How do we track progress?

Tuition success can be tracked both quantitatively and qualitatively.

Lessons and homework will involve students answering questions, which tutors can mark to give an indication of attainment.

Progress can also be measured at school; if homework and assessment grades are improving, this suggests the tuition is being effective.

Tutors provide reports to parents either on a per-lesson basis or monthly. These will summarise what has been covered in the lesson, highlight any strengths and weaknesses, and give recommendations. They may also outline homework set, so parents can be on the case to ensure this is completed in a timely manner.

The final, and perhaps most important way, to gauge the success of the tuition is simply, does the student enjoy the lessons? Do they leave them feeling upbeat about the subject, looking forward to the next lesson, etc.?

As from this will come motivation and then things like attainment targets can almost take care of themselves.
