At Athena Tuition, we match you or your child with your ideal music tutor to give you the best chance of success. Speak to our team today
Our Music tuition is wide-ranging. We can provide Music tutors to support with academic Music education, such as GCSE, A-Level / IB and undergraduate Music.
We are also able to provide instrument tutors for those wanting to work on their music performance mastery. This can be subdivided into Classical and Contemporary styles. Contemporary can encompass anything from old-school Blues and Jazz, up to more modern Pop and Rock.
In addition to this more conventional Music tuition, we have tutors who are specialists in music technology, such as music production, mixing and sound engineering. Tutors can teach you how to use popular DAWs such as Logic Pro X, and give you the general understanding to be able to record your own music. For any songwriter / musician, having a rough understanding of the recording and production process and the options available to you is extremely useful, even if you plan to work alongside specialists.
Yes, we will be happy to find a tutor for you who can provide in-person sessions.
Absolutely. If you prefer online music tuition, we are happy to match you with a tutor that will meet your needs.
At Athena Tuition, we don’t request payment blocks/a commitment to chunks of hours, so there are no trial lessons. Instead, clients are free to cancel at any stage, whether it be after the first, fifth or 500th lesson; we just ask that 24 hrs’ notice is provided.
Ahead of any lessons, the prospective client will be able to have a free-of-charge call with the tutor. This call provides an opportunity to get a more nuanced feel for the tutor to see if they’d be the right fit and to ask questions. The tutor will likely have questions, too, and if all is in order, a first lesson can be scheduled during this call.

Tuition success can be tracked both quantitatively and qualitatively.
Lessons and homework will involve students answering questions, which tutors can mark to give an indication of attainment.
Progress can also be measured at school; if homework and assessment grades are improving, this suggests the tuition is being effective.
Tutors provide reports to parents either on a per-lesson basis, or monthly. These will summarise what has been covered in the lesson, highlight any strengths and weaknesses, and give recommendations. They may also outline homework set, so parents can be on the case to ensure this get done in a timely manner.
The final, and perhaps most important way, to gauge the success of the tuition is simply, does the student enjoy the lessons? Do they leave them feeling upbeat about the subject, looking forward to the next lesson etc.? As from this will come motivation and then things like attainment targets can almost take care of themselves.
